Amplify Your Reach & Engagement Through Instagram's Reminder Ads

In the marketing space, it's crucial to stay ahead of the trends and product updates or else you're left crusty and stale #gross

ICYMI, earlier this year Instagram announced a new game-changing ad product that will help level up your strategy and presence on the platform: Reminder Ads

Whether you're already familiar with this new tool or it's flown under your radar, we are here to reveal Reminder Ad's potential and guide you on how to leverage them for your brand's success.

Instagram Reminder Ads

Let's face it—sometimes we need a gentle nudge to remember those important events or launches (or birthdays or anniversaries 👀).

That's where Reminder Ads come to the rescue.

Whether you're hosting exclusive webinars, launching groundbreaking products, or announcing unmissable flash sales, Reminder Ads will keep your audience in the know and excited about your upcoming moments.

With a simple opt-in, people who see the post can tap on the bell icon in the bottom left corner of the post to receive reminders for your event. You can add a reminder to a branded content post and a post with product tags. You can also share a post with a reminder to Stories. Instagram sends three timely reminders:

  • one day before

  • 15 minutes prior

  • just as the event starts.

It's like having a personal assistant that keeps your audience engaged and ready to participate.

Who Can Benefit From Reminder Ads?

You! Yes, you with the clever marketing ideas and the drive to captivate your target audience.

Perfect for businesses of all sizes and industries that thrive on events, launches, or time-sensitive promotions. From eCommerce brands with the hottest new line dropping to B2B SaaS companies hosting your quarterly webinars, Reminder Ads have a use case in any industry.

Using Reminder Ads Effectively

Now, here's the secret sauce to making Reminder Ads work like magic. It all starts with crafting captivating ad content that tantalizes your audience with a sneak peek of the excitement to come. Then, create a compelling call-to-action that entices users to opt in for those reminders. *Note that you must create the post at least 1 hour, and at most 3 months, before the event. The event time will be set in the time zone of the device that you use to create the post, but people will see the event in their local time. For example, if you’re in New York City and select 8pm as the event time, the event time will be set as 8pm EST. But someone who’s in Los Angeles will see the event time as 5pm PST.

But don't forget about targeting!

With Instagram's advanced targeting options, you can reach the precise audience most intrigued by your specific events or launches. Need help? Creating Reminder Ads

To promote an Instagram post with reminders, you will need to create an Instagram post with reminders first! (see below for easier reference)

Create Instagram posts with reminders for your event

To create Instagram posts with reminders for your event:

  • Create a new Instagram Feed post

  • Under New Post, tap Add Reminder

  • Input your Event Title and select your Start Time

    • You can also include an optional End Time

  • Finish creating your post and tap Share

Now, people who see your Instagram post can choose to receive a reminder for your event. After you’ve added a reminder to a post, you can create additional posts with reminders for the same event. Select Add Reminder and choose one of your existing events from the list, instead of adding new event details.

If you’d like to edit or delete a reminder, tap on the three dots on the top right corner of the post and select Edit 👉 then, tap on the line with the event name and time to edit the event details or delete the event.

Now, you can create a Reminder Ad from this post.

  1. Go to Ads Manager

  2. Select Create

  3. Select the Traffic objective and choose Website as the Conversion Location

  4. Select Continue

  5. Fill in the details for your ad set:

    1. At the Schedule section, ensure the ad ends 1 hour before your event or launch

    2. At the Placements section, choose Advantage+ placements

    3. At the Optimization & delivery section, choose Link clicks

  6. Select Continue

  7. Fill in the details for your ad:

    1. At the Identity section, select your Instagram account

    2. At the Ad setup section, select Use existing post

    3. At the Ad creative section, select from eligible posts with reminders

    4. At the call-to-action section, the Remind Me call-to-action will be selected

  8. Select Publish

After submitting your ad, you can view the Reminders On metric in Ads Manager by adding the custom column. Reminders On shows the number of reminders currently turned on for your event, attributed to your ads (this doesn't include reminders that were turned off before the event started).

To view the Reminders On metric:

  1. Select your reminder ad campaign in Ads Manager

  2. Select Columns

  3. Select Customize Columns

  4. Search Reminders On and select Reminders On

TLDR;

Don't let the "niche" of this ad type dissuade you from testing them out; in fact, that probably means a lot of other people feel the same way and you will be an early adopter, especially considering the Meta Business Help Center is only showing <500 views all-time 🥸

At the end of the day, only the data will tell you what works and what doesn't - so give them a shot and let us know how they work. As always, we are here to lend a helping hand if you need it - just give us a shout and we'll step in.
